Roanoke Island

• Was Called the Lost Colony because 118 people vanished from the site when ships arrived. The only clue was the word "Croatoan'
• It was located on an Island (of coarse) off of North Carolina.
• It was Established for and Economic Venture.
• They tried this from 1607 to 1754

Jamestown

• This was the first PERMANENT ENGLISH settlement.
• Was settled in 1607
• Located in Virginia (Duh)
• Was for an economic Venture
• Virginia Company.

(Jamestown was named after King James.)


Virginia Company

• They Established The House Of Burgesses
• Guaranteed "Self-Rule"
• And They are the reason English settelers came to America.
